Physical Education (PE)
At Newlands Community Primary School, we want all our children to become physically active and develop healthy habits that will support them throughout their whole lives.
Our Physical Education (PE) curriculum is at the core of our provision as this sets up a clear plan for each child and supports both core stability (vital for concentration, pencil control and general health) as well as PE skills.
This year, we have moved to a new curriculum planning resource, Complete PE. This supports our school in delivering high quality and relevant PE from Reception to Year Six.

Swimming
Many of our children have missed out on their swimming entitlement, due to Covid restrictions. This year, we are working to 'catch up' our children with this aspect of their curriculum.
Children who have been identified as needing 'booster' support with their swimming will also attend additional sessions in the term following their 'core' swimming programme to enable us drive our target for all children to leave our school being able to swim 25 metres and have basic life saving skills.
